Our Mission
Cancer will impact all of us at some point in our lives. Hidden inside that ugly truth is a subtle reminder that there is beauty in life, love in the struggle, and life to be lived even during a cancer battle. Indy's Ohana is determined to help cancer families see that light and beauty. By sending cancer fighters and their 'Ohana' (a Hawaiian term for FAMILY) on all-expense-paid vacations to Hawaii and other tropical beach destinations, we hope to bring a measure of hope, light, and healing to those fighting for their lives.
What We do
The cancer fight extends far beyond chemo treatments and beautifully bald heads. While the phyical demands required by the patients are ferocious and unfathomable, it doesn’t stop there. The mental and emotional toll it takes on the soul is also unbearable. The fear of the future, the unkown, AND the known can be overwhelming. Close family members will also take part in that battle, with some of those same mental and emotional burdens along with the exhaustion of doing whatever necessary to support the person fighting cancer. Regretably, sometimes cancer continues to take from us, even when our much-loved cancer warriors have finished their fights, returned to our heavenly home, and left us here. Grief and the rebuilding of life can be overpowering and distressing for those of us that are left behind. Cancer is a monster. And we're doing what we can to fight back.
Indy herself taught us, time and time again, there is beauty to be found in the battle. There are glorious experiences with great people and profound opportunities to learn and discover ourselves. There can be dancing. There can be laughter. There can be magnificent portrayals of light and of God's hand. If we have eyes to see it, the beauty in the battle shines through. Our goal is to bring that beauty to the forefront of these battles.
Join us in helping lift these cancer families in their time of need! We'll be using our platform to work together with YOU to nominate recipients, Fund the cost of their travel, and cheer them on as they enjoy these rejuvenating vacations. Indy's Ohana Inc. has 100% volunteer based operations, assuring that every dollar we raise for these families goes directly to these trips, not to anyone or anything else.
